“Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
[Mat 24:44 NKJV]
Over the years we have had several computers die on us. No matter how much maintenance we did at some point they just gave out. Sometimes the battery and charger died. Sometimes the hard drive gave out. At some point we realized that being ready for the computer to give out, by backing up our content, was the smart thing to do. It was probably after two hard drives gave up after less than three years for each. Now we backup our content on a daily basis.
We had no idea when our computers would give out. Each one took us by surprise. We thought for sure we would have more time than what we ended up getting. The latest, which we were prepared for, came out of the blue. The battery started to go. So, not only did we have it backed up in one place, but we also backed it up on an external hard drive. This was about a month ago. The other day we tried to turn on the computer and it starts and then just shuts down. It’s done. But, we were ready for it.
It makes me think about how we are to be ready for the coming of Christ for His bride. [Luk 12:40 NKJV] We don’t know the day or hour and neither does He. Only the Father knows when He will send His Son for the Church. [Mar 13:32]
But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
[Mat 24:36 NKJV]
Since we don’t know when Christ will come for His Bride, God tells us to always be ready. Never let our guard down. Be ready in season and out of season to preach the Gospel and be ready to go home. [Mar 13:33, , 2 Ti 4:1-2]
Thankfully, much like seeing signs a computer is starting to run its course and stop working, we are told we will see signs of Christ’s soon return. [Luk 21:7-19] God is not going to leave us hanging. Those who remain in the word, and seek to understand it and believe it, will not be taken by surprise. The remnant will be prepared. We are told that those who seek the wisdom and knowledge of the book of Revelation and keep it shall blessed.
Blessed [is] he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time [is] near.
[Rev 1:3 NKJV]
As much as there is controversy, quite a bit actually, among Christians about the rapture, I believe in it because I believe in God’s grace for the remnant. God had mercy and grace on Noah and his family, on Lot and his family, and on Rahab and her family. [Jos 6:17] Why would He not have mercy on the remnant?
So, we remain prepared. We keep His Word backed up in our hearts. We remain ready at all times.
