Give us help from trouble, For the help of man [is] useless.

Today I asked for help. I have been doing everything I can on my own to take care of household tasks, but today I just didn’t have the strength. I finally asked my husband to go to the grocery store for me. He works very hard, and I try and lighten his load by getting what I can through online orders, since I am not allowed into stores without facial adornment. Today I didn’t have even the strength to put in an order. He actually thanked me for asking him for help.
Asking for help isn’t easy. The world wants us to think that if we ask for help we are showing weakness. Evil lies and makes us think we have to do everything alone, that independence is not truly independence unless we shut out others and go it alone.
Unfortunately, this deception, this lie makes people try and rely on themselves in times of difficulty. People turn to drinking, drugs, and other sources of “fulfillment” to get them through. Going through rough times hurts and we aren’t meant to go it alone.
Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.

God gave us other people so we could have companionship. He gave Adam a wife, a help mate, in Eve. We are told to meet with other believers so we stay strong in Christ.
not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as [is] the manner of some, but exhorting [one another], and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
[Heb 10:25 NKJV]
When there is not one person to turn to for help, and even when there is a person, God is our first help. He wants to be included. He wants to help us. However, He will not force His help on us, just like Israel.
“But, dear family of Jacob, you refuse to ask for my help. You have grown tired of me, O Israel!
[Isa 43:22 NLT]
Trying to go life alone, and never asking for help, is actually pride. Pride is not of God.
By pride comes nothing but strife, But with the well-advised [is] wisdom.
[Pro 13:10 NKJV]
Strength and wisdom come from God. Only through God, and by asking for help, will we truly have victory over any difficult situation.
So don’t go to war without wise guidance; victory depends on having many advisers.

Dear Jesus,
Please forgive me for trying to do everything on my own. We know God created us to be part of a family. He created Eve to be a companion for Adam because you knew people shouldn’t be alone. Lord, help us remember it is ok to ask for help. Help us remember that we aren’t to go about life alone. Help us to reach out to you to ask for help. We are not here for selfish purposes but rather to share God’s Good News and to be a help. Thank you that we can ask God for help at any time. And, Jesus, for those who don’t have anyone to whom they can turn, help them feel your presence. You are our help in times of trouble. Our Help comes from You!
