Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
[Jas 1:17 NKJV]
Today we opened up a food item and found something in it that should not have been there. We ended up tossing the product. It wasn’t that expensive, and it appeared to be the only one with an issue.
When we purchase products that come from factories run by humans there is never a guarantee that products will come out perfect every single time. Most companies do everything they can to make sure products going out to customers are the way they should be – without error – no flaws. We know there are “laws” in place but sometimes loopholes in rules, or people’s desire to save a penny, get in the way. Sometimes, the fallen world just happens through no on purpose fault of anyone.
It made me think about how nothing we buy here in this world will be perfect. It’s because we live in a fallen world where imperfect humans and nature affect everything. Only God can give us perfect things because in Him everything is perfect.
[He is] the Rock, His work [is] perfect; For all His ways [are] justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright [is] He.
[Deu 32:4 NKJV]
When we get to heaven we will have perfect bodies. We will eat perfect food – food we can’t even imagine exists because it is in heaven only. Our mansions will be perfect. Everything, to the minute detail, will be perfection.
So, why do we even hope for perfection here? As humans we want things to be perfect, but as followers of Christ, we know that won’t happen here on earth – not yet anyway. God tells us not to store up treasures here but to look forward to and hope for what is to come – what is waiting for us in our eternal homes.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
[Heb 11:1 NKJV]
Here’s to looking up!
“Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
[Mat 5:48 NKJV]
