Prayer Day 70: Up Close

2021-04-05 By Heather

But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

[Mat 10:30 NKJV]

Today I pulled out our binoculars so we can watch mother duck up close without disturbing her. She blends in so well with the landscape that it is difficult to make her out. As I was testing the binoculars, my husband decided to stand close and see if I could focus in on him. It turns out he was too close. He was a big, blurry blob in the viewer.

As I was trying to get him into focus, I started to think about how God see us up close. He sees us so well that He has the hairs on our head numbered. He knows every freckle, every eyelash, every scar – He knows everything about us. We can’t hide anything.

This means He also knows the very depths of our hearts. What we may try and hide, or are unaware that we have in us, He knows – even if it is a dark corner. He can see it.

would not God have discovered it, since he knows the secrets of the heart?

[Psa 44:21 NIV]

There is nothing we can hide from Him. When judgement day arrives, every known and unknown act will be exposed.

There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.

[Luk 12:2 NIV]

Since God knows all, and all will be brought to light, shall we not focus on doing for Him rather than for ourselves? Shall we not please Him rather than man so we might show our love for Him rather than the world?

But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.

[Luk 12:5 NIV]

God sees us – up close and personal. God has the last say – for everyone.

Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin”?
