And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
[Gen 2:7 NKJV]
We are given life by our great and marvelous God. Although it is disputed in the secular world, we know God is the creator of all. He gave life to Adam and then He gave it to Eve. God gave us life so we could live for Him.
How many of us live for God, though? How many of us rise each day with our first focus being Christ? Given God gave us life, why would we not give Him our full attention?
Living in a fallen world makes putting God first a challenge. Evil is constantly trying to deter us from focusing our thoughts on Christ. Evil’s goal is to take away the life that God gave us. Evil wants us in the bottomless pit for eternity with him because the hatred evil has for God.
God created so much good. The life God gave us is an incredible miracle. Each day we take a breath, we move our limbs, we open our mouths to speak, and so many other bodily actions that are done by auto function. Yet, so many of us take that life for granted. Our bodies are God’s temple, and yet, we often abuse the temple with earthly desires. We give in to the temptations that evil puts in our paths, temptations that destroy the life we are given through God’s perfection.
How do we return our focus to, and keep it on, God? How do we honor His gift of life to us? We honor Him through worship. We honor Him by caring for what He has given us. We honor Him by keeping His commandments. [Deu 5:7-21] We honor Him by believing in His Son and sharing His Word.
And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.
[1Jo 3:23 NIV]
By accepting God’s gift of life and His son we honor those miracles. We have both life given here on earth and eternal life given with God and His Son!
Praise God! We have life in Him!
But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.
[Rom 8:10 NIV]
