Prayer Day 54: Hero

2021-03-20 By Heather

The LORD will march forth like a mighty hero; he will come out like a warrior, full of fury. He will shout his battle cry and crush all his enemies.

[Isa 42:13 NLT]

Heroes save the day. They are depicted as mighty, unbeatable, and immortal. Growing up we watched shows such as Bionic Woman, Bionic Man, Wonder Woman, Superwoman, Superman, Spiderman, Batman, and others.  Each character had amazing abilities. Man has dreamed of being that way, and based on scientific studies going on now, many are trying to accomplish it.

How many of us, though, think of God and His Trinity as heroes?

God has always been and will always be. He created the heavens, the earth, and us! He is the Alpha and the Omega. He sent His son die for us so we could be saved from eternal death. He is the ultimate hero!

Jesus is a hero. He came to earth and died, in a very horrific way, to save us. Who of us could handle the torture he endured and do it out of love for another person? I know I couldn’t. He is a hero! “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” [Jhn 15:13 NKJV]

The Holy Spirit is with us always. He gives us guidance to know what to do. “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. [Jhn 14:26 NKJV] He give us words to speak when we know not what to say. “For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” [Luk 12:12 NKJV] He never leaves us. He is a hero!

Why would man put his trust in man when God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit have more life; strength; power; wisdom than anyone one person? Yet, so many do put their trust in man rather than in God. So many choose the world over eternal life with the Father.

I put my trust in the Trinity. I put my trust in the eternal. I put my hope in the greatest hero of all time – God!

Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver [us],

[2Co 1:9-10 NKJV]
There He goes, a hero, a savior to the world
Here He stands with scars in His hands
With love He gave His life so we could be free
The savior of the world

Hero Lyrics – Abandon
“Hero” by Abandon with Lyrics

Dear Lord,

God sent you to die for us. You came and died, willingly, so we could live eternal with you and the Father. We thank you for all you did and do for us. You never forsake us even when we stray. Help us put you first. Help us remember you are the hero we need to turn to and not man. Whether times or good or bad, help us remember you are our strength and it is in you we should put our trust.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

[Psa 18:2 NKJV]
