The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
[Psa 34:18 NLT]
Several years ago I was handling the estate of a loved one. It was a difficult task and one that often brought me to my knees in prayer. I was broken in spirit from the loss and stressed from the complexity of the legal work that had to be done. Once again I find myself in a broken position.
This last year, and the ongoing situation, have me in a situation where I have no control. Activities I used to do I no longer can, due to restrictions. Events around the world, and in our nation, are leading to even more stressful conditions if God allows them to continue. I know I’m not the only one struggling. Many are struggling and for different reasons. What I am experiencing is minimal compared to others who have lost businesses and livelihoods or have had their families severely divided.
King David had many times in his life when he was broken hearted. He wrote multiple Psalms about it. He went through extreme duress and often cried out to God regarding his despair. (Psalms – broken) Yet, he always turned to God in his times of trouble. When his soul was shattered, he still gave God his love, adoration, and devotion. He never wavered.
For in You, O LORD, I hope; You will hear, O Lord my God.
[Psa 38:15 NKJV]
He knew that, even in his darkest days, God never left him alone.
How much do many of us feel that way today? We struggle with what is happening. We see evil winning. For many of us, our lives have been turned upside down. We are broken.
But God!
God sees our sorrow. He knows our pain. He never leaves us. Even when He gives people, or nations, over to evil, He is still with the believer. He is our strength and our song. Our help in times of trouble – all trouble, all brokenness, all valleys in our lives when we think we won’t make it through.
To the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of the sons of Korah. A Song for Alamoth. God [is] our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
[Psa 46:1 NKJV]
Shall we kneel at the cross? Shall we raise our hands to God and say “Help, Lord, I can’t do this without you?”
Yes! Why? Because, God is our help. He is our way out and up.
The LORD [is] my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.
[Psa 118:14 NKJV]
God is greater than any evil encompassing the world and any brokenness we have from what it is doing to our lives. We are His children and He’s our loving Father. He’s our rescuer. He’s our number one source for everything.
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
[1Jo 4:4 NKJV]
Let’s take our brokenness, all of it, to the throne. God is waiting.
With nothing left to hold onto, I raise these empty hands to you. Here’s my broken, here’s my broken, Hallelujah [x3] (Here’s my broken) Hallelujah When all is taken away, don’t let my heart be changed. Let me always sing Hallelujah And when I feel afraid, don’t let my hope be erased Let me always sing (let me always sing), Let my always sing, Hallelujah [x3] “Broken Hallelujah” – The Afters Lyrics Broken Hallelujah (Official Lyric video) – The Afters Truth Be Told (Official Music Video) – Matthew West |

You are know all my sorrows, all my pains, all my trials. You are not surprised by anything I bring to you. You just want me to bring them to you so you can help. In Jesus Name, Amen.
