Prayer Day 33: Value

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

[Jhn 15:13 NKJV]

Everything in our life has value. What the value of each item is varies by person, experience, and their value system. We recently sold an item of ours by placing an ad. The first two questions were typically 1) Is it still available? and 2) Will you take X amount for it?” Even when the words “price firm” are in the ad, people will try to barter down the price. The buyer wants to think they got the deal and the seller wants to feel they got the value they deemed the item to be worth.

God thinks we all have full value. He made us. He loves us. He wants all of us to be in eternity with Him. Our value, each and every one of us, was the price of His son on the cross for our sins. Christ literally died on the cross for us. That was the price, the value, of each of our lives.

For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

[1Co 6:20 NKJV]

It wasn’t just a a beating for some, or just a crown of thorns for others, it was death. Full death was the price paid for every person. And, we didn’t have to pay a thing. It was a free gift from God!

But the free gift [is] not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.

[Rom 5:15 NKJV]

Christ died for us. Then, he rose again and we will spend eternity with him as long as we accept the price he paid for us. All we have to do is say “Yes, Lord! I believe and I accept.” Unfortunately, those who refuse the price He paid will have a much more difficult time in eternity separated from God.

And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

[Rev 20:15 NKJV]

I am so grateful God sent His son to pay the price so we would not have to pay it. There is no price great enough we could ever pay to meet God’s standard. He knew that, so He sent Christ. Only one fully innocent and pure and without blemish could atone for the sin of humanity.

Dear Lord,

Thank you so much for sending your son as the sacrifice for our sins. We know that we, because of our human sin, could never meet the value you required. Christ was without sin; without blemish; completely pure. He paid the price because we never could. Thank you for loving us so much that you made the gift of salvation free to us. All we have to do is accept it.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

And when, before the throne,
I stand in Him complete,
“Jesus died my soul to save,”
My lips shall still repeat.
Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.
