Prayer Day 31: Music

2021-02-25 By Heather

Rise up, O LORD, in all your power. With music and singing we celebrate your mighty acts.

[Psa 21:13 NLT]

Music is an amazing gift from God. A simple, yet not so simple, method of expression.

In church we use music to praise Him. In our daily lives we use music to help us express emotion. It lifts our spirits when we are sad. We dance to music when we are celebrating. Some use music to help them get to sleep or to help them concentrate when they need to focus on studying.

Music is one way for me to connect with my husband. He loves to play guitar and has been part of a local band for several years. My heart is joyful when I see him at home practicing and on stage completely immersed in his playing.

Sometimes when I have a tune stuck in my head I’ll try and put praise words to it. I’m not very good at it but God doesn’t care. God doesn’t hear the awkwardness or the out of tune. He hears the words and is pleased.

Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.

[Psa 149:3-4 NKJV]

When we get to heaven we will all sing praises, out loud, and in tune! I can’t wait to hear music there because I know it is going to be so amazing.

I am so thankful God gave us music. It adds a dimension to worship that lifts the soul.

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, To the end that [my] glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

[Psa 30:11-12 NKJV]
