Sometimes we need help because we need to rest. Our earthly bodies can only take so much from the mental and physical anguish they go through when we are stressed.
I have suffered from headaches for a long time. They come on when I am extremely stressed. Last year they came back with a vengeance. The headaches are so strong that I am often out of commission, so to speak, for 24-48 hours.
That means that my husband, who works very hard to provide for us, has to step up to help me. In reality, he wants to help me, but I am stubborn and feel bad that he needs to. That is part of marriage, though, in sickness and health we are there to help each other. God gave us that companionship for a reason.
And the LORD God said, “[It is] not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
[Gen 2:18 NKJV]
So, today, I rested as much as I could. I am grateful for my husband. I am thankful that God is always watching over and providing help when needed.
A Psalm of David. The LORD [is] my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You [are] with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever. [Psa 23:1-6 NKJV] |
