Forever God is faithful. Forever God is strong. Forever God is with us. Forever. – Chris Tomlin
God is forever and always faithful. The words to the worship song, Forever, by Chris Tomlin exude the truth that God was, is and will always be faithful.
Faithful, as defined in Webster’s Dictionary, means “1: steadfast in affection or allegiance; 2: firm in adherence to promises or in observance of duty.” [Webster’s, Faithful] Someone who is faithful is always there when needed and even when not needed. They are loyal and you know you can rely on them.
Is that not how we should see God? The One who created us. The One who knows everything from the beginning to the end. The One who keeps all His promises. God is the perfect example of faithfulness.
For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself,
[Heb 6:13 NKJV]
Who of us has been perfectly loyal to our closest friends? Never wavering in our love for them? Never avoiding a call when we are too tired to talk? Always there to lend a hand, such as helping them move, when they ask? We, as humans, are incapable of being completely faithful because of our sinful nature. God, on the other hand, is always there, even when we turn from Him or break promises to Him.
If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.
[2Ti 2:13 NKJV]
He tells us in His Word that He will never leave us or forsake us. He’ll never turn away from us or leave us in a bind without His help.
[Let your] conduct [be] without covetousness; [be] content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
[Heb 13:5 NKJV]
As a believer in Christ, I am thankful that I can always rely on God to be there for me. Whether I am going through struggles, which is more rather than less these days, or when everything is going smoothly God is always there. He is faithful to the point of absolute perfection, because He is perfect.
[He is] the Rock, His work [is] perfect; For all His ways [are] justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright [is] He.
[Deu 32:4 NKJV]
As we see the uncertain times ahead we need to remember to lean into the Lord because He is the only real truth in so much darkness. He will see us through to the end, His end.
Let us hold fast the confession of [our] hope without wavering, for He who promised [is] faithful.
[Heb 10:23 NKJV]
Dear Jesus,
We thank you for your faithfulness. We thank you that we can always rely on you. We thank you that you never break a promise. You are perfect in every way. Lord, help us remember that you are faithful. Give us the ability to be faithful to you. Help us reside in your Word and put it into action. Lord, today’s world is full of uncertainty. We see promises broken by all sides. It breaks our hearts; makes us frustrated; makes us angry when we hear lies and see all the evil. Give us strength. Help the church stand up and stand strong for you and truth in these times. Only you, Lord, can get us through, because you are faithful.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
