In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[Jhn 1:1 NKJV]
Never wrong. Always truth. Perfect. Without fallacy. Pure. That is the Word of God.
As I listened to a podcast by Charlie Kirk, he and his guests in the video were speaking about God, the will of God, and the truth of God and His Word. A word that came to my mind was inerrant.
Inerrant is defined by Webster’s Dictionary as “free from error.” That is a perfect word to describe God and His word. There is absolutely nothing about God that is in error. God is perfect in every way. His word is also perfect.
Now, there are many out there who say the Bible contradicts itself and that it was written by man and not God. That discussion will not be found here. Theologians have published many articles on the topic. My belief is that God and His Word, the Bible, are inerrant.
God tells us, in the Bible, that we can trust in Him and His word.
Every word of God [is] pure; He [is] a shield to those who put their trust in Him.
[Pro 30:5 NKJV]
Every word is pure! That means we can trust what is in the Bible. Our faith is how we know that we can rely on it. In fact, we are told we need it because we cannot live without it.
But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ”
[Luk 4:4 NKJV]
We know that we are saved eternally through Jesus Christ by faith and belief in Him being the Son of God and that He died for us. The reason we know this is that the Bible tells us. If we didn’t believe God and the Bible to be inerrant, then we very likely wouldn’t believe that we need Christ and His redemption of us on the cross.
Can we rely on anything man has written as complete truth? Is man inerrant? No. We are told in Genesis that when Adam and Eve were created it was good. However, when they chose to disobey God, their innocence and purity died spiritually. Man was no longer without sin. From that day forward nothing man did was without error. The only man that has ever been without error was Jesus. He was without error, pure, because He was the Word of God sent down as human to shed his blood for us.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
[Jhn 1:14 KJV]
The podcast discussed, at a high level, a few of the various church denominations and their theologies. One point they made is that no denomination has it perfectly right. Not one single denomination is inerrant because churches are comprised of man. As humans, our directive from God is to rely on His word. It’s that simple.
[As for] God, His way [is] perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He [is] a shield to all who trust in Him.
[Psa 18:30 NKJV]
Dear Jesus,
How great are you Lord. How great is your holy name, Jesus. We thank God for caring enough to give us you, the Word, so we can live. Your word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Lord, guide us as we read your word; your inerrant Word from beginning to end. Show us your truth. Give us your wisdom. Help us live daily through your word and its inerrancy so we can be better plant the seeds, Your Word, in this dark world and share the truth of your light.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
[Luk 8:11 NKJV]
