Prayer Day 11: Love

2021-02-05 By Heather

February is the month of love, so the world says.

The love we have for each other as humans is a wonderful feeling. It can also bring feelings of sadness, for example, when we lose someone near and dear to our hearts. God gave us the ability to love because we are made in His image and He is LOVE!

So God created man in His [own] image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

[Gen 1:27 NKJV]

God is love in the actual sense. His Word tells us that perfect love, His love, casts out fear. That there is no fear in love.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

[1Jo 4:18 NKJV]

Although God made us and gave us the ability to love, human love can come with fear.  Fear that we will be hurt. Fear that we will lose the one we love. God’s love will never do that to us.

God is also LOVE. He is Lord. He is omniscient. He is victorious. He is everlasting.

God is Lord. He is Lord over all. Deserving of our full love and trust, yet, He so rarely receives it because of our human nature.

For who [is] God, except the LORD? And who [is] a rock, except our God?

[Psa 18:31 NKJV]

God is omniscient. Webster’s Dictionary defines omniscient as “having infinite awareness, understanding, and insight.” In other words, God knows everything and is surprised by nothing. He knows our every thought. He knows every plot planned by man.

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

[Psa 139:23 KJV]

God is victorious. God never loses a battle. He allows evil to only go so far before He steps in to stop it. Even when humans think they have won a battle, it is only because God allowed it to happen. In the glorious end and beginning of eternal life in the new heaven and earth, God will have the win and last say. Evil will lose. So take heart and know that God has you covered and protected.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

[Isa 41:10 NLT]

God is everlasting. God, our wonderful creator, Yahweh, is and always will be. He wasn’t created, He isn’t temporary. He is forever!

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, [the] Beginning and [the] End, the First and the Last.”

[Rev 22:13 NKJV]

God’s Word speaks of love 322 times in the NKJV. Love is the most important gift from God. We are to emulate God’s love to our fellow man. 1 Corinthians 13 is entirely devoted to love. Without love there is nothing because God is love, and He is everything!

Dear Jesus,

Thank you, Lord, for your love. Thank you for a love that is perfect, your love, because You are Love. You gave us love as a gift from you when you created us. We are seeing less and less of love in our world. Instead we see love of self. Lord, help us remain focused on you. Help us remember you are perfect love, a love that can never be achieved by man because we are fallen. We are thankful that you sent your son to die for our sins so we could be redeemed by His blood and act of selfless love. In the midst of so much evil in the world, please help us use your love to emulate you here on earth. As it is in heaven so shall it be here. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. [Mat 6:10 NLT]

In Jesus Name, Amen.
