God tells us to meditate on His word day and night.
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. ~ Joshua 1:8
He doesn’t say this to be an overbearing master, he says it because he knows that if we let it depart from our hearts we can succumb to the world. The bible is truth, and the more truth we have, the healthier are our hearts, souls, minds, and spirits.
Cause me to understand the way of your precepts, that I may meditate on your wonderful deeds. ~ Psalm 119:27
To fully understand the bible our heart, soul, mind, and spirit must want to absorb it and learn it.
I hear so often these differing ideas:
- The bible contradicts itself.
- Only parts of it are relevant.
- God didn’t really mean X, Y, or Z. They were just guidelines.
I fully believe the bible is truth in its entirety. I believe that if parts look to be contradicting to each other (which I believe the bible does not contradict itself), God is giving the same ideas in different ways to help people learn in different ways.
No one of us is alike. No one of us learns the same way or understands exactly like another.
The more we dive into His word the more we will understand.
I am thankful for God’s chart; His guide for my life. For I know I would be lost in heart, soul, mind, and spirit without it.
