Frankenberry Cupcakes Recipe

A mashup of cake mix and cereal to make fun Halloween cupcakes!

Frankenberry Halloween Cupcakes

Ingredients

Cupcakes

  • 1 Box White Cake Mix
  • 3 each Eggs
  • 1 ¼ cup Water
  • 1/3 cup Oil
  • 3 cups Frankenberry Cereal
  • Frankenberry Marshmallows

Frosting

  • 1 can Cherry or Strawberry Frosting
  • ½ tsp Red Food Coloring
  • ¼ tsp Blue Food Coloring
  • 1 tube Black Decorating Gel

Instructions

Cupcakes

  • In a food processor, or blender, grind 2 cups Frankenberry Cereal.
  • Add Cake Mix to mixing bowl.
  • Add Eggs, Water, and Oil.
  • Add ground Cereal.
  • Stir until combined.
  • Add 1 cup Frankenberry Cereal (not ground up) and stir until combined.
  • Pour into cupcake tins.
  • Bake at 350 F for 18 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and let cool.

Frosting

  • Pour Frosting into small mixing bowl.
  • Add red and blue food coloring.
  • Stir until completely mixed.
  • Using a spatula, or piping tool, frost cupcakes.
  • Pipe on three circles of black gel to each cupcake.
  • Using a toothpick, lightly pull toothpick through black gel to make spider web lines.
  • Place 3-4 Frankenberry Marshmallows on top of each cupcake.
  • Chill so frosting will set.

Notes

  • If you don’t want the flavored frosting you can use pink frosting. If you only have white frosting, use red and blue drops until you get the desired purple color.
  • To make the cake purple, add blue food coloring to the cake batter.

Place two cups Frankenberry Cereal into a blender or food processor.

Grind the cereal until there are no large pieces left.

Add Cake Mix to mixing bowl.

Add ground Cereal.

Add Eggs, Water, and Oil.

Stir until combined.

Add red food coloring to increase pink/red color of the cake.

Add 1 cup Frankenberry Cereal (not ground up) and stir until combined.

Pour into cupcake tins.

Bake at 350 F for 18 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool.
