Faith Musings: We are Renewed Through the Cross

2015-03-29 By Heather

1 John 1:7 Bible Verse

I recently decided to start adding reviews of restaurants to my blog. There aren’t any written, yet, since I just decided to do this, but they are in the works. I love posting on TripAdvisor and it occurred to me that I could cross post those to my blog. Yea!

As I sit here wondering about reviews, I started to wonder what would God say if He could review me?

Now there is a sad thought!

It isn’t sad because I think He’d shake His finger at me, but it is sad because I know my life could be so much better in His eyes! SO much better!

He gave us the commandments and told us to love one another as Christ loved us. If I were to go by that alone, I know my review would be very low, because as I human I naturally falter.

Simple commandments and yet so easy to break, even in thoughts alone.

I am so grateful that because He sent His son I have been washed clean!

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. – 1 John 1:7

It reminds me of the old hymn What Can Wash Away My Sin?

This Palm Sunday I am so grateful to remember that it is Jesus’ blood that has saved me. I no longer have to worry about having a great review when I face God. Jesus took care of that for me.

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
For my cleansing this I see—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
For my pardon this my plea—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
Nothing can my sin erase
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
Naught of works, ’tis all of grace—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
This is all my hope and peace—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
This is all my righteousness—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
