There are many feelings I experience during the winter holiday season. It is a mirage of feelings that encompass me and fill my heart.
I am thankful that God gave us feelings. Feelings we can share; feelings that allow us to experience life with more than just action; feelings that help us relate to, and empathize, with others.
Given the strength and number of feelings we experience, I can only imagine how God feels them – much greater than us, I’m sure.
We were made in His image; thus, feelings and emotions are from Him and part of Him.
Just a few references to feelings, emotions, and the soul in the Bible show us just how, and why God, gave us the ability to feel.
He gives us the ability to rejoice:
Then my soul will rejoice in the Lord and delight in his salvation. ~ Psalm 35:9
He gives us wisdom that calms our soul:
For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. ~ Proverbs 2:10
He gives us the ability to love:
Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ ~ Matthew 22:37
This season I hope to use these feelings not just for fun and joy but to remember and be thankful for what God has provided and show Him my gratitude.
