Making grilled hamburgers is almost a national must during the summer. My husband loves to grill and I love gadgets. When we saw this Burger Press at the store it practically screamed out to us, “Buy me!”
We used it recently to make our first stuffed burgers and here are our thoughts on this product.
A gadget that creates a pocket in ground beef, or other ground meat or similar, to let you stuff the middle of with any condiments you might like.
The brand we purchased, HD Designs, is manufactured for Kroger as a general merchandise private-label item.
Site Description & Claims
Kroger does not have this product listed on their site. It appears to also be made for other “private labels” as well as HD Designs. Other brands are Mr. Bar-B-Q, Stufz, Charcoal Companion, and Cuisinart. Below is the information we found from Amazon and Sur La Table.

Where to buy
Amazon.com: Charcoal Companion Stuff-a-Burger Press (Note: affiliate link)
We purchased ours at the local chain store for about $8. After giving the burger press a try here are our thoughts.
Holds 1/2 pound of meat
You actually must use the full ¼ and ¼ to make the ½ pound of meat or the press itself won’t make a pocket. It may hold more, we just didn’t try.
Stuff burgers with fillings by your design
One can stuff the burger with anything. We did bacon and cheese and it turned out well.
Top-rack dishwasher safe
I washed ours on the top rack and it washed just fine and did not melt. Easy clean up definitely.
Press top with small end to press meat and flat, broad end to seal
Yes, it does work this way if you use the amount of meat they say to use. If you want a smaller burger patty the pocket maker side of the lid does not reach the meat.
Easy to use design
It was very easy to use. The instructions on the box were clear. They provide text and image instructions on how to use the burger stuffer.
Overall we enjoyed using this burger stuffer. It was simple and easy to figure out. It does make a nice pocket to hold stuffings in a burger, and it cleans up nicely.
Large Pocket: The burger press makes a large pocket. It will hold a large quantity (we did ¼ cheese and ¼ cup bacon bits) without the stuffing falling out.
Easy Clean Up: Since it is coated plastic, the burger press cleans up easily under water. We put it on the top rack of our dishwasher and it was sparkling when we took it out.
Simple Instructions: The box has instructions in text and images to show you how to use the burger stuffer. We found it simple to use.
Huge Burger: To make the pocket press work, you must use the amount of ground beef it tells you to use. It is a lot of meat and makes a very large burger.
Pocket Maker: If you use less than the amount of meat the instructions tell you to use, the pocket maker part of the press will not reach the meat at the bottom. We had to turn our press over and press from the bottom to get the meat to go around the cylinder.
Overall we liked the press and can’t wait to use it again and stuff with other ingredients. Once we found the work around to getting the pocket made, if you use less than the amount of meat they say to use, it worked very well. Although, you could probably use a bowl and the bottom of a glass to make a pocket, but it might not be as efficient.
