It has been three years since I had my Lasik procedure. I had the procedure done on July 24, 2014. I recently went in for a regular eye exam. Since there are still people interested in knowing longer term results of Lasik, and my eye doctor, Dr. Midson at Tigard Optometric, suggested it, here is an update. The eye doctor did one last “tear production” check and checked my vision. I am pretty much 20/20 in both eyes.
I also placed the order for reading glasses. In order to compensate for both reading and computer, I went with +.75. These glasses are much better than the ones you can get in the drugstore since the centering of them matches with your natural eye focus. The ones in the store may not align properly. I can actually tell the difference. [Read more…] about Post-Lasik: One Year After Follow-Up Visit
Basically, my eyes are better. They are not perfect, but they are better. They are not quite as dry (unless is that time of the month) as they were at 6 months. The plugs did not help. However, my eyes appear to be getting better, on their own, over time. I am hopeful that at the 1-year mark my eyes will be much closer to normal than they are even now.

Today was my three month post-Lasik procedure follow up appointment with my eye doctor. My eyes are doing ok. Over the last few weeks my eyes have been very dry. I even moved this appointment up a few days, as I was scheduled to see the doctor next week.
My eyes are still seeing at 20/20. This is a good thing. Dr. Midson said that if my eyes were going to need a “touch up” it would have occurred in these first few months.
My eyes have been feeling so much better, until this past week. My eyes started to feel dry again. It turns out women’s hormones can greatly affect the eyes and cause dry eye, or re-occurrence of dry eye, especially if you have had Lasik.

Today was my one month post Lasik procedure follow up appointment with my eye doctor. My eyes are doing well. They have reverted a bit back to nearsightedness, but it is a very small reversal. Dr. Midson reminded me that 10-15% of Lasik patients need to go back for a redo. Her thoughts right now are that I probably won’t be one of those patients. She will check my vision again at the 3 month follow-up visit.
As of now, my eyes together are 20/20. Apart, the left eye is a bit more nearsighted but not enough to justify a redo at this point. Fingers crossed that my eyes will stay at 20/20.

One of the things they tell you in the Lasik after care instructions is to avoid wearing makeup for the first month or two. This is because they do not want you rubbing your eyes or getting anything in your eyes. This means, no eye shadow, no mascara, no foundation around the eyes, pretty much nada nothing.
Now, I don’t tend to wear makeup…long story, but I do like to wear it for special occasions. When I do wear makeup, I prefer the natural mineral type (like Jane Iredale) and ones that wash off with just warm water or a simple makeup remover cloth.

Oh what a wonderful trip we had to Vegas! The sun was shining bright, the heat was around 90+, we had five pools from which to choose, and a $25 pool drink credit per day. The joys of being relaxed and doing nothing!
Since I was a month post-Lasik, I knew I would need to protect my eyes from the heat and sun. Something I should have though of before the surgery, but it was workable.

I have been asked several times, how much does it cost to have Lasik done on your eyes?
I found out pretty quickly, once the process was started, that Lasik costs more than just the procedure. I did not do much research, but I did know the procedure itself would cost a nice penny. [Read more…] about Post-Lasik: How Much Does Lasik Cost?
Here are some tips and suggestions based on my experience.
Note: These are my thoughts and experiences. Always check with your eye doctor before trying anything or if you think something is feeling odd.
